IBM Comes Through In The Clutch But Price Falls 5%
IBM is on a roll. Its Q4 revenue estimates beat the street's forecast with reported revenue of $26.3B and profits of $2.26 a share; that’s above the Street figures of $25.7B and $2.19.
- IBM signed $17.8B in services contracts in the quarter, up 55% year-over year.
- Software revenue grew 14%, 11% adjusting for currency. Websphere branded software grew 22%; Information Management software, 28%; Tivoli, 25%; Lotus, 30%; Rational, 12%.
So why did IBM shares fall 5% after the release? Sometimes its just maddening to understand such things. We have seen comments blaming the general mood on tech stocks. That would seem to us a good reason to buy IBM.
